Sanders’ title odds trimmed after treble
Hills go 4-1 from 6-1, with Coral going 5-1 from 7s. Ladbrokes kept Sir Mark Prescott's stable jockey at 6-1. Champion Kieren Fallon has been eased to evens with Hills, 10-11 with Coral and 8-11 with Ladbrokes, though he remains favourite with all three firms.
Dettori was cut to 11-8 from 6-4 by Hills and Coral, and to 6-4 from 2-1 with Ladbrokes.
Ladbrokes spokesman Damian Walker said: "We have now got a very one-sided book on the jockeys' title and still haven't seen a decent bet for Kieren for over a month now.
"In our view the next few weeks are absolutely crucial to deciding the direction of the title.
"If Frankie can maintain his lead until the end of this month when evening racing draws to a close then he must have a great chance.
"With effectively just one meeting a day available to both jockeys after Saturday, August 28, Frankie is more than capable of matching Kieren from that point onwards.
"Seb Sanders could be the surprise package and he is in a good position to challenge for his first title. Seb was in great form at Lingfield today but we have kept his price at 6-1 as we have not seen any significant support for him."
David Hood of William Hill said: "The market has changed dramatically and Kieren is friendless, out from 2-7 last week to evens. We've hardly seen a dollar for him.
"Frankie and Seb are the two the punters want and both are in flying form. Frankie could well be favourite by the end of the week."
David Stevens of Coral added: "Frankie remains the punters' choice, but Seb Sanders is riding as well as anyone at present and cannot be discounted."
Sanders told At The Races: "I'm riding some nice horses at the moment, but it's a long season.
"Frankie and Kieren have got pretty good ammunition and it's just whether we can pick up the good spares and keep with them.
"With the July I've had and the start of August, more and more trainers are using me and I'm getting some nice rides."
Dettori added: "We've still got three months to go. We're all working hard and doing what we can and it's quite amazing that at this time of the year you have four jockeys so close. It's going to go right to the line.
"I'm not getting excited because I've been in this position before and anything can happen. You can have a suspension or you can pick up an injury. I would rather be talking about it halfway through October."
On the track Sanders landed a near 43-1 treble on Cupid's Glory, Hypnotic and Franksalot, Cupid's Glory went off the 4-5 favourite for the first division of the lingfield-racecourse.co.uk EBF Median Auction Maiden Stakes and won easily by three lengths. The colt, from the in-form Sir Mark Prescott stable, looked to have a little more left in the locker at the end.
Hypnotic (5-6) took the Lingfield Leisure Club Nursery in the familiar Cheveley Park Stud colours, and was part of a treble for the breeding establishment, which bred the winners of the first, second and fourth races.
Stud senior manager John Marsh said: "We thought Hypnotic had plenty of weight going into the race, but he's just a tough old boy who always finds something more when he has to."
Franksalot (12-1), the third leg of the Sanders treble, is trained by Brooke Sanders no relation at Epsom.
Flat jockeys' championship (ends November 6), Ladbrokes bet: 8-11 Fallon, 6-4 Dettori, 6-1 Sanders.
William Hill: evens Fallon, 11-8 Dettori, 4-1 Sanders, 20-1 Holland.
Coral: 10-11 Fallon, 11-8 Dettori, 5-1 Sanders, 20-1 Holland.
