Euro can lead way

EURO LEADER, absent for some three months, is napped to take the Denny Gold Medal Handicap Chase at Tralee this afternoon.

Euro can lead way

Willie Mullins' promising seven-year-old hasn't been seen since beating Khairambar and Tiger Cry in fine style in a conditions event at Punchestown at the end of May.

His fitness, however, is no great worry. Mullins geared his campaign around challenging for the Galway Plate, but refused to risk him on the fast surface.

The ground will be far more suitable now and this progressive sort should take plenty beating.

Red Damson, who did us a favour at Bellewstown last week, has to be supported again in the far more competitive Denny Havasnack Race. Mark Prescott brought him to the Co Meath track, because he felt his charge is currently asked to carry too much weight in handicaps cross-channel. He looked a very smart sort, maintaining a relentless gallop through the last half mile to slam Pepperwood by 14 lengths.

Naples and Sorry Al are the two against the field in the Irish Stallion Farms' EBF Novice Hurdle.

They come here in good shape, Naples having scored over an inadequate two miles at Roscommon, while Sorry Al was impressive when beating Flaming James by seven lengths at Bellewstown. Naples is preferred.

Bowerman, who stayed on nicely to land a 12 furlongs maiden at Sligo for Tommy Stack, has since changed stables and may be capable of going in first time over flights for Susan Finn in the Lee Strand three-year-old Hurdle.
