Make it Mossbank to follow-up
Hourigan has already described the Kadeed gelding as the new Beef Or Salmon, so he has plenty to live up to in the coming months.
The former winning pointer was hugely impressive on his debut over flights at Limerick last month. He looked a very classy individual, striding through in the straight to beat the useful Powerstation unextended by three lengths. The bare form is no reason for getting overly excited, but it was the manner of the performance which was so eye-catching.
Strictly on the book there is little between Mossbank and Outlaw Princess, who beat Powerstation by three and a half lengths at Naas.
It has to be Mossbank, however, until we know better!
The very frustrating Carthalawn gets the nap to leave a bout of seconditis behind in the Herbertstown Maiden Hurdle.
He's a horse who likes to stay on the bridle for as long as possible and it seems probable that Davy Russell will be in no great hurry to play his hand.
The selection managed to turn certain victory into defeat when grabbed late by Wanango at Naas last time, but it is difficult enough to find one of his rivals here who will prove capable of giving the talented four-year-old a real fight.
Ruby Walsh is a significant booking for Liscooney in the Clover Hill Hurdle and that could swing things in favour of David Kiely's charge. He is capable of the odd poor display, but a reproduction of his third to Mossbank and Powerstation at Limerick would see him go close.
