Esperado follows up quickly
The seven year old, ridden by John Thomas McNamara, was kept in mid-division until the long run to the second last. At that stage she looked to have a bit to do, as Nualas Lady (7-1) and Colman Sweeney was making the beat of their way home. However the latter unseated Sweeney at the second last and John Thomas took over from Millview Rose (7-1) to score by seven lengths.
Trainer Henry De Bromhead recorded a double. He sent out Karl Casey’s (Waterford) Goldenavour to win the 4 & 5-Y-O Maiden and was successful with Killiney Bay, owned by his wife, Heather, in the second division of 6-Y-O & Upwards Maresand Geldings Maiden.
