JAMIE SPENCER stole the show at York yesterday with a first-class display of tactical riding to win the Victor Chandler Nunthorpe Stakes aboard Kyllachy.

The young Irish rider, in his third full season riding in Britain, has gained rave reviews since he first arrived here as an apprentice.

And he showed a shrewd tactical brain to escape from a tough-looking draw in stall 15 of 17 and secure a passage through to the favoured far rail from where he pounced to land the £185,000 Group One contest.
