Darghan looks another for Oxx

JOHN OXX and Johnny Murtagh can continue on their merry winning way with the once-raced Darghan in the Kells Maiden at Gowran Park this evening.

Darghan looks another for Oxx

The son of Air Express made a promising debut at Fairyhouse six days ago and is confidently expected to build on that.

Darghan contested a seven-runner conditions event and went off a totally unconsidered 25-1 chance.

But he ran a cracker, staying on nicely at the end to finish a short head and a length and a half third behind well-backed stable companion, High Day, and Beucaire.

Ruby Walsh and Tony Martin are fancied to land the Bennettsbridge Handicap ’Chase with Adolphus.

The selection, Graham Lee was aboard, parted company with his rider at the fourth in the race won by Blitzy Boy at Galway.

Previously, however, this time with Walsh in the plate, the six-year-old scored by nine lengths at Wexford.

Walsh could also win the Jack Duggan Memorial Handicap Hurdle on Willie Mullins’ Love Ditty.

He wasn’t disgraced when seventh behind Windsor Boy, Hunters Bar and subsequent Galway Hurdle hero, Sabadilla, in a much better race at Killarney.

There was plenty cut in the ground on that occasion, and prior to that, Love Ditty looked at home on a sound surface when landing his maiden at Bellewstown.

The front running Beucaire, touched off by High Day at Fairyhouse last week, should take plenty pegging back in the Thomastown Handicap!
