Butterfly may yet run in Arkle

CHRISTY ROCHE’S Like-A-Butterfly could yet strengthen Ireland’s strong hand in next week’s Arkle Trophy at the Cheltenham Festival.

We currently have the first three in the betting, War Of Attrition, Watson Lake and Ned Kelly, and J P McManus’ high-class mare may boost the challenge.

She hasn’t been seen since disappointing badly at Leopardstown at Christmas and it was subsequently discovered that her blood-count was all wrong.

Said Roche: “She looks well and seems well and will work at home on Wednesday. If she pleases me and there is cut in the ground then she may travel.”

Like-A-Butterfly’s regular partner is Conor O’Dwyer, but he will be aboard Mouse Morris’ War Of Attrition.

“If the mare does go, I would imagine A P (McCoy) will ride”, said Roche.

Meanwhile, it was confirmed yesterday that Ruby Walsh will partner current market leader for the Weatherbys’ Champion Bumper at Cheltenham, Willie Mullins’ Missed That.
