Lost Time set to go in again

LOST TIME rates a reasonably safe wager to land the Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Novice Hurdle at Sligo this evening.

Trained by Christy Roche, the eight-year-old is clearly no star, but good enough, hopefully, to get through this test! He ran two promising races, following a long break, behind Afistfullofdollars at Navan and Arteea at Naas, before getting off the mark over flights at Fairyhouse.

Going off a heavily-backed even-money shot to beat 24 opponents, you couldn’t describe the performance as overly impressive. The selection had to get the full Tony McCoy treatment to beat Daly Said It by ¾ of a length, but a repeat of that should suffice.

The rest of the card looks particularly tricky, but a little on Tom Hogan’s Fire Finch, in the Tuesday May 24th at Sligo Handicap, mightn’t miss the target by much.

The daughter of Halling indicated her turn shouldn’t be too long delayed when third to Stutter and stable companion, Rooftop Protest, at the Curragh eight days ago.

The opening Lynam Merit Median Auction Maiden may be best left to Michael Halford’s twice-raced Miss Ailbhe.

Sixth behind Bobs Pride at the Curragh, she had Saturday’s Naas winner, All Woman, behind in fifth place when thrid to Deyrnia, also successful at Naas, and Sweet Firebird at Clonmel.
