Robbie Mac pick of the bunch
Liam Burke’s charge has been rated accordingly, but indicated at Killarney last week he is far from devoid of ability.
Returning from a break and going off a largely unconsidered 14-1 shot, the selection powered through late to take a mile and six conditions race by half a length.
The emphasis now is very much on quantity and, in a poor contest, Robbie Mac could well be the proverbial blot!
Dermot Weld’s once-raced Absolute Image is a hopeful choice in the Oola Maiden.
He made his debut on this track two weeks ago, going under by a neck to 20-1 shot Look No Further. Third placed Dooneen has already let the form down.
But this is a moderate event with Orenay finishing a well beaten third to Caheerloch at the Curragh and Aidan O’Brien’s Charismatic Cat running no sort of race when 23 lengths fifth of six behind Dabbers Ridge at York last week.
Dermot Weld’s Gripping is arguably the form horse in the Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Maiden, but preference is for O’Brien’s newcomer Amigoni, who is by Danehill.
The Ballykisteen Maiden Hurdle looks competitive and a case can be made for far too many for comfort. The vote falls on French Accordion, an unlucky second to On The Net at Killarney. Ruby Walsh is a significant booking for Paul Nolan’s charge.
