Mick hoping for change of luck

MICK KINANE is hoping Azamour will avoid any trouble in running when he lines up to defend his Royal Ascot record in the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes today.

Although beaten in the English and Irish Guineas last year, the Night Shift colt went on to nail a high-class field in the St James's Palace Stakes 12 months ago.

John Oxx's charge was unlucky in running on his four-year-old bow, though, when denied a run in the closing stages of the Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh last month before finishing fourth to Grey Swallow.

"He was very unlucky last time he didn't get any sort of run and I thought he should have won, so hopefully we will have more luck tomorrow," said Kinane. "It is a case of so far so good. He has gone through his paces well since the Curragh, has come forward for the run, and hopefully he will travel over well.

"The ground will be fine for him as it is, but we wouldn't want to see too much rain."
