Adalar poised to go one better for Oxx and Murtagh
The son of Grand Lodge has improved significantly since making a less than auspicious start at the Galway festival.
Indeed, he ran a cracker at Tipperary a week ago, even if ultimately proving no match for ultra-smart stable companion, Hanabad.
Adalar was beaten three lengths into second spot, but there was little disgrace in that, considering Hanabad is considered good enough to step up to Group One company in the forthcoming National Stakes at the Curragh.
Feature event is the Listed Carlsberg Ruby Stakes and Oxx can also provide the solution with Czaritza.
Fran Berry takes the ride, because Murtagh cannot do the weight, and the rapidly improving three-year-old looks set to run a big race.
She won a moderate maiden over ten furlongs at Roscommon and then showed real style when stepping up in class, and down three furlongs in trip, to beat Sweet Deimos a comfortable three parts of a length at Tipperary last week.
Czarita has to overcome a moderate draw, and has a bit to find on ratings as well, but may prove well up to the task.
The Baltimore Man makes his eagerly awaited debut over fences, in the Directors’ Beginners ’Chase, and has to get the vote.
A very smart and versatile sort, he battled on strongly to score on the level at Tramore last time. As long as the ground remains on the fast side, Ruby Walsh’s mount can deal with the relatively experienced Theseus.
