Winning return for Doyle

LIZ DOYLE, who has just returned after being sidelined for six weeks due to injury, took the Open Lightweight Race (confined to lady riders) at the West Carbery Hunt Point-to-Point at Skibbereen on Saturday on her own Sober Performance (evens to 4-6).

Winning return for Doyle

Doyle sent the nine-year-old, seeking his seventh success, to the front early on and controlled the race until the third last where she was strongly challenged by Pretty Young Thing (4-1 to 5-1).

There was little between the pair until coming to the last where Sober Performance got the better of the duel, going on to win by a length and a half from Native Daisy (3-1), which came late in the hands of Jennifer Lee to take second place just ahead of Pretty Young Thing.
