Ascot feature at mercy of Quazar
Jonjo O’Neill’s five-year-old will be a worthy favourite for the two and a half mile race which has attracted a rather disappointing field of just four runners.
With Baracouda and Rooster Booster both taken out of the race, Quazar should have a clear run at the Grade Two prize.
The son of Inzar was a top performer as a four-year-old but he lost his way a little last season before taking a minor event at Haydock.
Quazar really came into his own though at the Punchestown Festival in May when he won the EMO Oil Champion Hurdle, beating Back In Front by a length.
He looked in need of his first start for six months when second to Well Chief in the Elite Hurdle at Wincanton last time and that race should have put him right for here.
Classy handicapper Turgeonev looks to finally be back to somewhere near his best after his recent Wetherby win and he can take the Allied Irish Bank (GB) Handicap Chase.
