Liss A Paoraigh can acquit herself well in Trial
John Kiely’s smart mare Liss A Paoraigh should take all the beating in the Grade Two Red Mills Trial Hurdle, despite the two miles being on the short side for her.
Mind you she made light of that supposed drawback at Leopardstown at Christmas when slamming Stage Affair to the tune of 25 lengths over the trip.
Edward O’Grady’s Sacundai is the obvious danger, even if he would be 11lbs better in if this was a handicap. He came right back to form with an easy defeat of Florida Coast at Naas last month.
Moscow Express is fancied to reverse recent Thurles running with Arctic Copper in the Grade Three Red Mills Danoli Chase.
Neither was any sort of match for Native Upmanship that day, as they filled the minor placings behind Arthur Moore’s two mile Champion Chase aspirant.
There was half a length between them and they meet on the same terms. Moscow Express, however, will strip fitter, he loves this track and his rival’s tendency to jump left is a worry!
Moore’s Kaoutchou gets the nap to fulful recent promise in the first division of the INH Stallion Owners’ Maiden Hurdle.
After catching the eye at Thurles, he again hinted his turn was imminent when fourth behind the dead-heaters, Emmet and Liscannor Lad, at Fairyhouse. The form received a minor boost when third placed Safe Route scored subsequently.
The frustrating Mitchelstown is worth chancing one more time in the Bumper. He’s no star, but his second to Willie John Daly at Naas and close third to Windswept Leader here were solid enough efforts.
Another frustrating sort, Supreme Developer, can get us away to a flier in the opening section of the Finnegan and McGovern Bar Furniture Maiden Hurdle at Navan tomorrow.
You would have to say he was quite disappointing on this track last month, beaten two lengths by Joueur D’Estruval. Barry Geraghty, though, didn’t make a whole lot of use of him on that occasion and seems unlikely to repeat such tactics!
Over The Bar can redeem his somewhat tarnished reputation in the McCabe Builders’ Boyne Hurdle, now that Limestone Lad has been forced to sidestep the race.
The selection has been pulled up twice over fences at Navan, once after making a bad blunder, but with Edward O’Grady’s horses back on song he should be seen in a far more favourable light.
Over The Bar was a smashing novice last season, putting up his best effort when runner-up behind Galileo in the SunAlliance Hurdle at Cheltenham in March.
Dermot Weld’s Stage Affair could be capable of making a winning debut over fences in the Sasha Fashions Flyingbolt Novice Chase.
The nine-year-old Arkle possibility has reportedly schooled really well.
