Down in class Juliette can make her presence felt
The daughter of Sadler’s Wells was last seen in action when contesting the Irish Oaks at the Curragh in July.
She ran the race of her young life to finish sixth, beaten about six lengths, behind Paddy Mullins heroine, Vintage Tipple.
The form is put into context when you consider the selection came home in front of both Spanish Sun and Ocean Silk, first and second respectively in the Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot previously.
This is a decent contest, with Oxx running no less than four, but Juliette is on the upgrade and has to get the vote, considering she has a minimum of 9lbs, a lot more in some cases, in hand of all of her rivals and is the choice of Johnny Murtagh.
Oxx has a very strong hand in the King Charlemagne Platinum Stakes with D’anjou and Dossier.
D’Anjou, now 7lbs better in for a beating of three parts of a length by Avorado at the Curragh, comes out best at the weights.
The fact, however, he is discarded by Murtagh, in favour of the once-raced Dossier, sways one in that direction.
Dossier hasn’t been seen since landing her maiden at Naas in early May, being value for a lot more than the four lengths she had to spare over subsequent winner, Indian Belle.
Riding arrangements clearly indicate she is currently giving every satisfaction in her homework!
Aidan O’Brien introduced a very smart juvenile in Wolfe Tone at Galway on Saturday and Anchor, a son of Inchinor, might be another in the Mull Of Kintyre Maiden.
Moscow Court, who may not have been overly suited by the testing conditions when a length and a half second to Harry’s Judgement at Tipperary, gets the nap in the Bumper.
On that same Tipperary programme, Castledale seemed to get bogged down in the ground when third behind the highly-rated Magritte. David Wachman’s charge gets the nod to cope with the Ballydoyle newcomer Hippocrates, a son of Hennessy, in the Orpen Maiden at Naas.
