Snippets takes chance in Oaks
Thirteen fillies remain in the contest following the forfeit and supplementary stage, but that will certainly be reduced by at least one.
Apsara, trained in France by John Hammond, was left in in error and will be taken out on Friday morning.
Supplemented, at a cost of 40,000, was Jim Bolger’s daughter of Be My Guest, Snippets.
She had far from a clear run when finishing third, promoted to second following a stewards’ inquiry, behind Hanami in the mile and a quarter Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh last month.
Bolger reports Snippets in "great form” and likely to be well suited to stepping up another two furlongs in trip.
Ballydoyle has not enjoyed the best of campaigns with their three-year-old’s and a victory for Yesterday would be a boost for them.
She was beaten a neck by Andrew Balding’s Casual Look, set to renew rivalry, at Epsom, after having a nightmare run for most of the straight.
Spanish Sun is set to do duty for Michael Stoute and is Cashmans’ 3-1 second favourite.
Once-raced as a juvenile, she made a tremendous seasonal debut to beat Ocean Silk a head in the Ribblesdale at Royal Ascot.
Spanish Sun was described as a "likely runner”, by a representative of the Stoute yard.
Ocean Silk is in the Oaks as well and her trainer, John Gosden, has also left in High Praise.
Hanami, who won the Pretty Polly last time, is a certain starter. Said her trainer, James Toller: "She will run and I am hopeful about her getting a mile and a half.”
Vintage Tipple, owned by Corkman Pat O’Donovan and on the easy-list since taking second to Walayef in the Athasi Stakes at the Curragh in April, is on target for the race, having reportedly worked well at headquarters recently.
Cashmans bet: 2-1 Yesterday, 3-1 Spanish Sun, 4-1 Casual Look, 6-1 Ocean Silk, 7-1 Hanami, 11-1 Vintage Tipple, 20-1 L’Ancresse, 25-1 Snippets, 50-1 bar.
Paddy Power: 2-1 Yesterday, 7-2 Casual Look, 9-2 Ocean Silk, 11-2 Spanish Sun, 8-1 Hanami, 10-1 High Praise, 14-1 Snippets, Vintage Tipple, 16-1 L’Ancresse, 25-1 bar.
