Silver Steel has rock-solid look
The seven-year-old developed into a useful novice chaser last season, but is decent over timber as well as he proved when making a winning reappearance at Navan last month.
Contesting what looked a competitive three mile handicap and partnered, as he is again, by Alan Crowe, Silver Steel won in fine style, beating Irish Grand National hero The Bunny Boiler a comfortable two and a half lengths.
The selection stays well, handles the ground and should be too good for this opposition.
The opening Horse and Jockey Beginners Chase is best left to Livingstonebramble and Ruby Walsh.
He is in the care of Willie Mullins, whose charges are starting to hit top gear. Livingstonebramble, following a fall on this track, jumped well at Navan subsequently when a length and a half second to Dutsdale Dancer.
Greywell, as anticipated, proved tossed into a contest at Cork on Sunday and has to be fancied to enjoy a quick follow-up in the Munster Handicap Hurdle.
He won doing handstands four days ago and runs here under a mandatory 6lbs penalty. Liz Doyle’s gelding, however, goes up 14lbs in the future.
Michael Hourigan’s Moss Bawn has been a trifle disappointing, but may be capable of squeezing through the Cahir Maiden Hurdle. He performed solidly when second to Satco Express at Punchestown and then cut out quickly in the race won by Plenty Of Ice at Navan.
Interestingly, the blinkers he wore at Navan are now discarded and, hopefully, that will make a difference!
Youlneverwalkalone, a very talented individual, who doesn’t find much off the bridle, gets a tentative nod to win the Glen Chase.
