Second season feast for Fallon
“It seems as if Aidan has some very nice horses,” he said. “It is a pity the weather has been so bad, I can’t wait to get going.”
Looking very fit, he chatted easily with the assembled media and the body language between himself and O’Brien again indicated this remains very much a match made in heaven.
He talked about George Washington as “being exceptional’ last season. “I rode him at Leopardstown recently, but the ground was very heavy. He went round there as if he owned the place.
“It looks as if he has done well and his temperament is not a worry. He has a high cruising speed and you can put him anywhere. He travels with ease through his races and loves to be in among horses.” Regarding Epsom Derby market-leader, Horatio Nelson, Fallon said: “He has a lot of speed and a lovely nature. He can cruise up front and then quicken.”
He would not be drawn as to what he would ride should both head to Newmarket for the English 2000 Guineas. “A lot can happen over the next couple of weeks.”
He listed three others for which he clearly has high hopes, headed by Art Museum. “He does everything for you, he is one of my favourite horses,” said Fallon.
“I don’t think I have ever seen a horse do as well as Dylan Thomas and Hitchcock is my dark one for the season.
“I am here most days or else over at David Wachman’s. But riding-out is no substitute for race-riding and I felt very rusty in Dubai recently.
“I have not given any thought to outside rides. My main priority is to ride for Misters Magnier, Tabor and Smith, wherever their horses run.”
