Pose looks poised to follow-up

THE tough Unique Pose gets the nap to land the Listed Martin Molony Stakes at Limerick this evening.

Pose looks poised to follow-up

She enjoyed little more than a decent work-out when justifying odds of 1-5 at Naas last week, but it is her previous performance at Cork which indicates she has the winning of this.

That came in a Group Three when the daughter of Sadler's Wells attempted to make all. She ran her heart out, but was collared in the closing stages and beaten half a length by the smart Right Key. Dropping down a furlong in trip now can only work in her favour.

Portsmouth, very impressive when taking his maiden at the Curragh a week ago, is put forward as the main danger.

He may well emerge as a very good horse in time, but beat little or nothing at headquarters and Unique Pose is put forward as the more solid option.

Dermot Weld trains Unique Pose and may also supply the solution to the Wilo Engineering Maiden with Wilderness Bay.

She was the medium of a sustained off-course and on-course gamble at Tipperary eight days ago, but could only manage fourth to Szewinska, after being slowly away.

Briolette and Great Quest look the two to concentrate on in the Chesser Auctioneers' EBF Fillies Maiden.

The former showed only moderate form in two outings as a juvenile, but ran really well on her reappearance when runner-up behind Princess Nala, in what was a true-run contest, at Navan.

Great Quest has arguably the better form, following her three parts of a length second to Whoneedswings at Fairyhouse. But the fact she hasn't been seen for 44 days is a worry.
