Duneden set to deliver
If something can go wrong then it usually does as far as the five-year-old is concerned, as he has totally failed to build on the promise of two impressive bumper successes last year.
Esssentially, the selection seems a one-paced plodder and that is certainly what he looked when three and a half lengths second to Faayej at Wexford last month.
There was cut in the ground on that occasion, however, and Duneden has never appeared happy.
The faster the ground the better and, in what is a weak race, it will be no great surprise should Niall Madden make a lot more use of Duneden now, compared to Wexford.
John Oxx’s once-raced gelding Tarkesar is fancied to provide Jason Behan with a rare winner in the Summerhill Maiden.
Tarkesar made a good start when third behind Requested Pleasure and Jubilant Note at Leopardstown. He was noted going on well at the end and moving up another furlong and a half in trip can only help.
Tom Taaffe’s Whenever Wherever, who finished with a flourish when ten lengths second to Kinger Rocks at Punchestown, is the choice in the Bumper.
Caribelle holds a leading chance in the Dunbell handicap Hurdle. She was beaten a length and a half by Amisina at Kilbeggan and had Sunday’s unlucky Cork second, On Your Way, four and a half lengths adrift in third.
