Peccadillo the pick at Huntingdon

PECCADILLO has an excellent record on his rare visits to Huntingdon and can make it three wins from four starts at the track today.

The 10-year-old’s target is the Nyman Libson Paul Macer Gifford Memorial Handicap Chase over an extended two and a half miles.

Peccadillo landed a victory over the trip on his first visit to Huntingdon back in September 2002 and after finishing second the following September, he was back in the winner’s circle in the same race this season.

He strolled home by six lengths from Lincoln Place, having been really well suited by sitting in the leader Palua’s slipstream in a strongly run race.

Peccadillo lost nothing in defeat last time out when he was three-quarters of a length behind Gunther McBride at Kempton, just failing to peg back the winner on the run-in.

Trainer Robert Alner has elected to run this horse rather than stablemate Spring Grove, and Peccadillo can repay his faith.

James Fanshawe has an expanded jumps team this year and Prins Willem is one to keep an eye on in the first division of the I Bet You Bet iBetX Novices’ Hurdle.

The five-year-old proved difficult to win with on the Flat this year and his best runs came back in the spring, when he was second and then third at Newmarket.

He struggled to build on that and became just a little disappointing, but he is reported to be schooling well and a spell of hurdling may just reignite his interest in the game.

World Vision ‘warmed up’ for the Enter The £1 Million totetentofollow Handicap Hurdle at Sedgefield with a victory over fences at the track last month.

Ferdy Murphy’s seven-year-old adapted well to the bigger obstacles, but he has shown fair form over hurdles and the return to timber should not be an inconvenience.

Southwell stage the all-weather action and Paparaazi can step up on some modest turf form to claim the second division of the Bet Direct At Southwell Nursery.

The son of Victory Note showed a bit of ability in maiden races on turf but he put in his best effort when finishing third to Bird Over on Wolverhampton’s new Polytrack surface.

Paparaazi was putting in his best work at the finish of that seven furlongs contest, suggesting the step up to a mile here should suit him nicely.
