SHAUN KEIGHTLEY has failed in his bid to overturn a three-year warning-off order after appearing before the Appeal Board of the Horseracing Regulatory Authority.

Keightley loses appeal

The Leicester-based trainer was handed the penalty, which also means he is ineligible to train racehorses for a further two years, in December following a lengthy inquiry into the running of Red Lancer at Wolverhampton in 2003.

The board did, however, reduce a fine of £3,500 to £1,000, although Keightley was ordered to pay costs of £4,000.
