Alisar victory can lift Murtagh
The twice-raced son of Entrepreneur made a promising debut at the Curragh in April, finishing fourth behind Dalcassian.
He was entrusted with favouritism at Gowran Park subsequently, 2-1 from 5-2, but went under by a length and a half to Tipperary All Star.
At the time it looked a mildly disappointing effort. But Tipperary All Star produced a fine display at the Curragh on Sunday, beating two smart horses in Good Day Too and Multazem, to show the form in a much better light.
John Oxx trains Alisar and he and Murtagh have prospects of a double with Canouan in the Curkeen Rath Fillies Maiden.
Her two main dangers are Final Opinion and Swiss Role and, on current ratings, Canouan has 7lbs and 10lbs in hand of them respectively.
She was certainly in better company than this when beaten a neck into second spot by Crimphill in a Listed race at Navan.
In fourth place was Queen Astrid, who then won the Saval Beg Stakes at Leopardstown.
If the selection runs to her mark she is obviously going to be hard to beat, but confidence is tempered by the mild worry she may not be entirely genuine!
For the moment, however, Canouan is entitled to the benefit of the doubt.
Charmed Forest gets the nod to take the opening Ratoath EBF Auction Maiden.
James Burns’ charge was beaten a head and a short head into third by Moon Unit and Follow at Navan last time and that contest is working out really well.
Follow went on to record an impressive success at Leopardstown, while Moon Unit ran a cracker to finish second to Newton at the Curragh on Saturday.
Anyportinastorm, who made an excellent debut when a length and a half second behind Christy Roche’s well-backed market leader, Mind The Square, at Cork, can win the Bumper.
