Progressive Dabousiya gets the vote
The daughter of Barathea hinted at having ability on her first two outings, but found dramatic improvement at Gowran Park on her latest appearance.
She absolutely trotted-up, beating subsequent Listowel scorer, Automatic Racer, an easy three and a half lengths.
Dabousiya’s previous effort was at the Curragh and she has little or no chance now on the basis of her running that day with main rival, Snippets. The latter finished like a train to beat Tough Chic by a neck. Behind in fifth place, five lengths adrift of Snippets, was Dabousiya (levels). The form has been working out particularly with fourth placed Mountain Snow and Englishtown, who finished sixth, going on, like Dabousiya, to win in the meantime.
John Oxx’s filly, however, gets the vote to reverse placings, so impressive was she last time, and add yet another success to Johnny Murtagh’s growing tally, as he bids to grab the jockeys’ championship.
Peratus and Triton Dance are the two to consider in the EBD Median Auction Maiden. Peratus has been tried over six furlongs of late and was a bit disappointing in only finishing third to Shizao at the Curragh and second to Vanilla Sky at Fairyhouse. Her best display, however, came at today’s five furlongs, when beaten half a length by Ballydoyle’s Miguel Cervantes at the Curragh.
Triton Dance made an excellent debut at Tipperary when splitting Vettriano and last week’s Listowel winner, Legacy. That contest was over an extended seven furlongs and it is difficult to know quite what to expect from Michael Grassick’s filly at the minimum trip. Preference is for Peratus.
Cifonelli, who made a belated, but promising, start to the campaign when runner-up to the gambled on Indy Carr at Fairyhouse on Saturday, can go one better in the Kilmessan Handicap.
