Shining Keano gives polished display to take Fedamore prize

SHINING KEANO, the property of Pat Treacy from Kilmallock, Co. Limerick, proved a worthy winner of the Maryville Stakes, and the 800 that went with it, at Fedamore Co. Limerick yesterday when he defeated Tom Barrett’s (Co. Limerick) Seefin Oscar in the decider.

With an abundance of hares, both the Maryville Stakes and the Fedamore Stakes were brought down to the finals stages at Carmody’s with the beat moving to Corridan’s for the two finals.

In the Fedamore Stakes decider, the honours went to the locally owned High Stool Five Syndicate’s Leannes Hunter, who proved too good for Galtee Shadow.

Final: High Stool-Five Syndicates’ (Fedamore) dk.bd.b. Leannes Hunter (Matt Hyland-Sharons Hunter) bt. Master J. O’Connnell’s (Ballyneety) w.f.d. Galtee Shadow (Shadow Risk-Orange Draught).

Meanwhile Roman Court, owned by Tom Murphy of Model Farm Road, Cork, who was hard run when competing in the Cork Open and Willie Barry Memorial Trophy the previous Sunday, showed no adverse affects of that run at Dromina, Co. Cork on Saturday when taking the 650 prize in the Dan Brennan Memorial Cup.

In the decider he beat Denis Lynch’s (Macroom) Knockrour Guide.

The Dan O’Connell Perpetual Cup went to Ann Watson from Milford, Co. Cork when her Quivers Bypass got the better of K & R. Casey’s (Galbally) Cheerful Avenue in an exciting decider.

With some excellent hares, the dogs got some very testing courses and an excellent day’s coursing was enjoyed by all.
