In August 2012, DJ Carey started seeing a woman he met on an online dating website called Plenty of Fish. She lived for about five months with him in his home at the K Club in Co Kildare. The woman never questioned where all the money he was spending freely on holidays, expensive meals and the nice things in life came from, as he had told her that he was suffering from cancer and had to travel regularly to Seattle for treatment. She was so traumatised, she didn’t dare ask him about the source of his wealth, but she couldn’t help but be suspicious.
