Josh Kerr cruises through as Jakob Ingebrigtsen goes out in 1500m shock

Josh Kerr’s storied rivalry with Jakob Ingebrigtsen will not be renewed at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo after the Norwegian failed to qualify for the 1500m semi-final.

Defending champion Kerr comfortably saw himself through to Monday’s semi as the second-fastest from both the first heat and overall in 3:35.98.
