Millstreet gets ready for Mounted Games Euros

More than 300 young competitors from around the world will descend on Millstreet next week for the Mounted Games European Championships.

More than 300 young competitors from around the world will descend on Millstreet next week for the Mounted Games European Championships, which run from July 28 to August 3.

Competing at the renowned Green Glens Arena alongside riders from Ireland north and south, will be visitors from England, Wales, Scotland, Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.  

Mounted Games is an equestrian sport where riders compete in a series of fast-paced, relay-style challenges on ponies.

The 2025 European Championships will feature team and individual competitions in under 12, under 15, under 18 and open rider age groups. 

The event will include an opening ceremony with a mounted parade through the streets of Millstreet and entertainment by musician Liam O’Connor.

Ireland U12: Fern O’Reilly, Florence Bannon, Poppy Bannon, Ed Ladd Finn and Yasmin Sweetman (Trainer Martine Hennessy).

Ireland U15: Marina Bolton, Grace Mangan, Charlotte Weld, Hazel Lucey, Robyn O’Reilly, Reserve Rachel Twomey. (Trainer Aine Sharry and Peter McCarthy).

Ireland U18: Nicky Bolton, Conor Buckley, Ross Warren, Daniel Callary, Harriet Mangan, Reserve Max O’Reilly. (Trainer Aido Hanlon).

Ireland Open: Rachel Crowe, Libby Beirne, Aisling O’Leary, Amy Lucey, Lucy Hennessy, Reserve Ali McPhillips. (Trainer Conor O’Leary).
