What you might have missed yesterday

Sarah Healy and Sophie O’Sullivan came up short of the semi-finals in the 1500m, Sharlene Mawdsley and Sophie Becker also falling short in the 400m repechages.

Healy and O’Sullivan both finished seventh in their heats, falling one spot shy of qualification, while Mawdsley was third in her 400m repechage in 51.18 and Becker second in 51.28.

Ireland’s hopes of claiming an eighth medal in Show Jumping at Paris 2024 came to naught on Tuesday morning as Daniel Coyle and Shane Sweetnam failed to produce the clean round needed.

George Hamilton was honoured at a ceremony in Paris on Tuesday for his decades spent covering the Olympic Games.

The RTÉ commentator, who worked at his 11th Olympic Games three years ago in Tokyo, was part of the International Sports Press Association's (AIPS) Journalists on the Podium presentation at UNESCO headquarters.
