Ireland captain John Carroll confirms immediate retirement from international basketball

John Carroll has announced is retirement from from international basketball. 

The 28-year-old Dubliner took over as Ireland captain from Kyle Hosford ahead of the Eurobasket pre-qualifiers two years ago. He was also part of the Ireland squad which won the European Championship for Small Countries in 2021, a tournament in which he finished as Ireland's top scorer.
