A Russian marathon runner who won a race in Japan after the country was banned from global competition has been disqualified and could face further punishment.

Viktor Ugarov claimed victory in the Kanazawa marathon on Sunday, two days after Russia were handed a provisional suspension from international athletics by world governing body the IAAF following the World Anti-Doping Agency’s revelations of systematic doping.
