Andy Murray lands team-mate in hot water with girlfriend - live on TV
Yesterday Andy Murray forgot the basic rule of away trips - “what happens on tour, stays on tour”.
The Scot was being interviewed along with his Davis Cup team-mates after their win against the United States.
Interviewer Annabel Croft commented that although Murray couldn’t celebrate because he was leaving Scotland that night, the other players might raise a glass in his honour.
Murray’s response drew a horrified reaction from team-mate Dom Inglot.
“Dom’s got a little girlfriend on the go here in Glasgow,” he told Croft. “So he’ll maybe celebrate with her this evening.”
Murray was laughing, but the English player informed him that his joke would not go down well with a certain viewer.
“You’ve actually landed me in it,” Inglot told him. “I’ve got a girlfriend who’s probably watching this.”
Oh dear.
Inglot later tweeted to reassure everyone that Andy had in fact been joking.
Just to clarify, there is no girl on the side. The joke interview was just a joke. All banter with @andy_murray

Let’s hope his girlfriend believed him.
