Princess Eugenie at Wimbledon to support her namesake

Princess Eugenie of York made a “last minute” decision to go to Wimbledon and is there to support her namesake Eugenie Bouchard in today’s final.

Tennis darling Bouchard said it would be “amazing” to meet the person she was named after – and her dream is set to come true.

The Canadian, who faces Petra Kvitova, is named after the princess, while her twin sister Beatrice is also named after a British royal, and her brother is called William.

A Buckingham Palace spokeswoman said: “Princess Eugenie has decided to attend Wimbledon today at the last minute. She is going to support her.”
