Ireland's Nicolas Roche remains in seventh place overall after today's 10th stage of the Vuelta Espana.

Germany's John Degenkolb won today's sprint finish, but Roche finished safely in the main peleton to maintain his place in the top ten.

Spanish rider Joaquim Rodriguez remains 53 seconds ahead of British rival Chris Froome at the top of the, with the overall top two finishing four seconds off the pace today.

It was Degenkolb’s fourth victory of the tour as he finished strongly on the 190km ride from Ponteareas to Sanxenxo.

Pace setters Adrian Palomares and Javier Aramendia led the breakaway until the 157km mark before they were caught.

In a thrilling finish Degenkolb managed to find a gap and sprint away from a massive group, as an incredible 22 riders finished just one second off the pace.

Rodriguez and Froome finished in the group along with third-placed Alberto Contador, who remains a minute behind his fellow Spaniard.

Tomorrow sees the only individual time trial of the event as the riders take on the 39.4km ride from Cambados to Pontevedra.
