Bradley Wiggins will not ride in next week’s Tour of Denmark after being granted extra time off following his hugely successful summer.

Team Sky have allowed the 32-year-old, currently on holiday in Mallorca, an extended break after he became the first Briton to win the Tour de France before becoming Olympic time trial champion.

Wiggins was due to return to professional cycling for the first time since his Le Tour win and join Team Sky’s eight-man squad in Denmark.
