McIlroy swaps fairways for Centre Court

Golf star Rory McIlroy was given a hero’s reception today as he arrived at Wimbledon.

The young Irishman arrived to hearty applause from fans after he lifted the recent US Open – his first major.

McIlroy, who will sit in Centre Court’s Royal Box, arrived early at the 125th All England Lawn Tennis Club championships.

He made his way to the practice courts to watch the players prepare for today’s ladies’ quarter-finals.
