Andy Murray’s French Open campaign came to an end in the semi-finals as Rafael Nadal celebrated his 25th birthday by showing just why he is the favourite to win a sixth title.

The world number four was looking to emulate Robin Soderling, the only man to have beaten Nadal in 45 matches at Roland Garros, but the Spaniard was in superb form and withstood Murray pressure in all three sets to triumph 6-4 7-5 6-4.
