Federer wins after Simon suffers injury
Roger Federer advanced to the semi-finals of the Sony Ericsson Open when his quarter-final opponent Gilles Simon retired from their match due to injury.
Frenchman Simon had won two of his previous three matches against Federer but was trailing 3-0 in the first set of their Miami clash when he pulled out, citing a neck problem.
