Home favourite David Ferrer landed the Valencia Open title this afternoon with a straight-sets win over fellow Spaniard Marcel Granollers.

In picking up a valuable 200 points in his bid to qualify for the World Tour Finals in London, Ferrer also secured a maiden indoor title with a 7-5 6-3 win.

The clash, the first all-Spanish indoor final since Alex Correjta met Carlos Moya in Toulouse in 2000, represented a game too far for Granollers, who entered the tournament as a lucky loser.
