Venus calls time on season

Venus Williams has called a premature end to her season because of an ongoing knee problem.

The world number three, who had already withdrawn from tournaments in Cincinnati, Montreal and Beijing, will miss the season-ending WTA Championships as well as the Fed Cup final between USA and Italy.
