Rain frustrates Murray

Andy Murray was today once again made to wait by the rain as he looked to complete his French Open second-round match against Juan Ignacio Chela.

World number four Murray was due to resume 6-2 3-3 up on the Argentinian on Court One at Roland Garros this afternoon after the contest was suspended at around 9.30pm last night.

But the first four-and-a-half hours of today’s play were wiped out by the weather, with the Scot scheduled second on court following Ana Ivanovic’s women’s singles match with Alisa Kleybanova.

Several other contests suspended last night were due to be completed today and the backlog forced tournament organisers to postpone a number of matches scheduled for later this afternoon until tomorrow.

They included four-time men’s champion Rafael Nadal’s second-round meteting with Horacio Zeballos and women’s number one seed Serena Williams’ clash with Julia Goerges.

British pair Colin Fleming and Ken Skupski’s first-round men’s doubles match against Marco Chiudinelli and Christopher Kas was among a raft of doubles contests postponed.
