Andy Murray crashed out at the first stage of the defence of his Sony Ericsson Open title in Miami today when he was beaten in straight sets by the world number 101 Mardy Fish.

Murray, who had received a first-round bye, produced a performance plagued with errors to fall 6-4 6-4 to an American opponent whom he had beaten comfortably in each of their previous three meetings.
