Number three seed Svetlana Kuznetsova reached the second round of the Australian Open women's singles with a straight-sets win over Australia's Anastasia Rodionova in Melbourne.

The Russian dropped just three games as she out-classed her Russian-born opponent on Court Two.

Rodionova served three double faults and made 22 unforced errors as Kuznetsova set up a clash with fellow Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova who defeated Latvian Anastasija Sevastova 6-2 6-4.
