Ninth seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga was given a free passage through to the third round today when opponent Simone Bolelli pulled out with a back injury.

The Italian retired during his first-round doubles match yesterday as a precaution after feeling a twinge but was still not fit enough to compete today.

The match was due to be third on Court Three this afternoon. Frenchman Tsonga will now face either big-serving 22nd seed Ivo Karlovic or Belgium's Steve Darcis, who meet on Court Four later.
