Egan through to the quarter-finals

Kenneth Egan has advanced to the next round of the light heavyweight boxing division at the Beijing Olympics following a win in his bout against Turkey’s Bahram Muzaffer this morning.

The southpaw led by 2-1 at the end of the first round and he stretched his advantage to 5-1 when both fighters hit the canvas.

Egan, a member of the Neilstown club, wrapped up in the win with a good performance in the final two rounds to progress on a score of 10-2.

He is now through to the quarter-finals and will face against Washington Silva of Brazil.
