Former champion Lindsay Davenport has pulled out of Wimbledon with an injured right knee, forfeiting her second round match against Argentina’s Gisela Dulko, scheduled for Court Three later today.

Davenport, who won the women’s singles in 1999, admitted she struggled with the long-standing complaint in the course of her three-set, first-round win over the Czech Republic’s Renata Voracova.

The 32-year-old former world number one recently returned from 11 months out following the birth of her first child, but her latest injury setback casts major doubt over her future on the women’s tour.
