The top-seeded American wasted little time against her Thai opponent as she wrapped up a 6-2 6-1 victory in their second-round clash.

Second seed Agnes Szavay was another convincing winner, the Hungarian rattling off a 6-1 6-4 success over Russia’s Galina Voskoboeva.

Szavay’s quarter-final opponent will be fifth seed Eleni Daniilidou, who was a 6-3 6-2 victor over American Ahsha Rolle.

Fourth-seeded Russian Maria Kirilenko overcame China’s Meng Yuan 6-4 6-2 to set up a last-eight meeting with Catalina Castano.

Marta Domachowska posted a 7-5 6-2 win over Severine Bremond and was rewarded with a last-eight match against Williams.
