Andre Agassi has booked a place in the third round of the US Open after a straight-sets victory over Croatia's Ivo Karlovic yesterday.

The 35-year-old, who was pushed to a tie-break in each set of the match, will now go on to face Tomas Berdych, who also beat Ricardo Mello of Brazil in straight sets yesterday.

Elsewhere, American wild card James Blake beat Igor Andreev to set up a third-round meeting with second seed and French Open champion Rafael Nadal.
