Alexander Vinokourov of Kazakhstan won Wednesday’s 11th stage of the Tour de France, a 172km ride from Courchevel to Briancon.

Vinokourov, riding for the T-Mobile team, outsprinted Colombian rider Santiago Botero to take stage honours while France’s Christophe Moreau edged a group of riders including Lance Armstrong to third place, 1minute 15seconds behind the first two.

Armstrong remains in the leader’s yellow jersey and is still well on course for a seventh consecutive win in the race.
