Two more withdrawals at SW19

Argentinian seventh seed Guillermo Canas and Dutchman Sjeng Schalken have both pulled out of Wimbledon.

Argentinian seventh seed Guillermo Canas and Dutchman Sjeng Schalken have both pulled out of Wimbledon.

The 27-year-old Canas was due to face a qualifier in the first round at the All England Club, while Schalken also misses out after reaching the last eight at SW19 for the last three years.

As a result of Canas’ withdrawal, Belgian Olivier Rochus will now become the 33rd seed and take his place in the draw.

The duo have not revealed the reasons behind their withdrawals but their absence hands opportunities to American Paul Goldstein and Italian Daniele Bracciali as lucky losers.

Former Wimbledon champion Andre Agassi has already pulled out of this year’s championships because of injury and he will be replaced by fellow countryman Justin Gimelstob.
